Light + Size
Analysis Template
Template has been changed.
o
line to remain to opposite
edge of page.
o
"scale" to remain as
template indicated
Key:
o
no border around.
o
no undelining of text
- Analytic drawings should be in section not elevation, indicating light paths and cones.
- Image titles to be beneath drawings i.e text beneath plans, in lower case.
- Plans can be moved to the right of the diagram once second elevation is
removed, text to be left aligned.
- Weak analysis of airflow - should indicate direction and flow of air, not only entrance.
- Openings to be indicated clearly in section.
- Indicate light reflection path acurately,
if relevant.
- Drawing to fit within margins ie. top of elevation to line up with top of
number 01.
- Plans indicating size can be cleaner,
no need for furniture cars etc.
- Show
sun angle in section/ axo at different times of year at noon (summer, winter,
spring/autumn)
- Show
sun diagram in plan, highlighting
orientation and length of sun penetration throughout year
- Remove
elevations
- Size
- not just areas but width, length
and heights
- Air
flow, show entry (if windows
operable) and show how air would move through spaces
- Ensure
scale is correct
Suggestions for
Design Template:
All annotations in Arial, point
8, lower case (to match history
template)
All drawings to be titled accordingly - both text and image left aligned.
Circulation+ Thresholds (public/ private, insideoutside)
Fix layout
according to template, icon is
missing, check size of text.
Your analysis has
to be more extensive and include sections. Thresholds include the transition to
the outside, street and garden. You
might need to add furniture to make the public/ private part believable. The
red arrow is not successful, try a
straight one, look at the template
there is one you can use. And what is happening in the left part of the
building, that is all white in your
drawings? Draw what you write abut in the text.

Concept (design principles)
Not a bad
beginning, but try to draw what you
explain in the text. Raumplan is not an easy thing to illustrate, and it doesn’t come through in your drawings yet.
You might need to use arrows to show the connectivity of the rooms, vertically and horizontally. The plan is also
divided into three zones, which
doesn’t come through yet.
Suggestions for Design
Template:

template)

Might
read better if plans run from bottom to top (i.e basement
at bottom and 2nd on top)
Group
seems to understand the design but might be able
to convey connection from one level to the other better (i.e section, axo or clearer drawing).
Adaptability (Furniture/ programme/ Extension)
Analysis Tile:
You don’t follow
the given template, please reformat
accordingly. Your names do not appear on the analysis,
the title is much too big, the icons
are missing. Nothing fuzzy can appear on the drawing.
Drawings have to
be in the same scale.
It is not
understandable what is changing, how
and why. Simply greying the area does not communicate enough, it actually doesn’t say anything. You need to
re-furnish the house and explain the scenario. Show how many people live there
in the original version and in the adapted one. Is is changing in the life of
one family – children are leaving …or is it a change in general demand of
rentable space, more living, less bedrooms?
Icon has been moved to left of margin.
Must sit within margins.
Text,
"Scale" to be in italics.
Drawings and text should both be left
aligned.
Analysis is weak,
needs annotation illustrating the adaptations.
Where is analysis of how adaptation
influences furniture, programme, extension etc?
Extension mis-spelled.
Colours suggested not used.
Look at the other
drawings available/ iso, sections –
can they add layers to your analysis -
if so – use them.

Façade/ Composition
You don’t follow
the given template, not even in size, please reformat accordingly. This is meant to be
designed in indesign…
To analyse the
composition you need to show more than the facades themselves, you have to point out the rhythm of the openings, the sameness of the openings – (nearly) only one
kind of window size. It is kind of mirrored in a certain sequence, show that. Draw one façade in a larger scale and
explain that principle. Leave out the trees they are not relevant here. Will
send sketch a bit later to explain more.
